Painted screen by Esther Stevens Barney

Esther Stevens Barney screen, oil on canvas with bronze powder pigment gilding. The original face side bears an overall design of a scrolling Copa de Oro vine, against a bronze powder pigment gilded background. The screen is signed and dated on the bottom right proper corner of the Copa de Oro side, in small block letters, "Esther Barney 1937."  The reverse side bears a symmetrical composition of a Century Plant in bloom, with Mexican primroses spreading from its base, also against a bronze powder gilded background.
